AS TECH HUB
Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) is being primed as a
global technology hub, with more than 60 per cent of accounting and finance
professionals predicting it will achieve world-leading status within five years.
The finding comes from CPA Australia’s
GBA Business Technology Report
2021, which shows 90 per cent of
GBA businesses have undertaken at
least one technology-related project
in the past 12 months. The report
surveyed 258 accounting and finance
professionals in a variety of industries

in Hong Kong, Macao and the nine GBA
mainland cities.
While 68 per cent of respondents
believe the GBA’s current workforce
possesses moderate-to-high levels of
technological skills, more than a third
indicate that a shortage of talent is a
major challenge to technology adoption.

Record low interest rates
are prompting Australians
to reconsider where they
put their money, with
almost a third moving a
portion of their savings
out of their bank account,
according to research from
Finder. The data shows
that 7 per cent have shifted
money from savings into
micro-investing apps, while a
further 7 per cent have used
some of their savings to top
up their superannuation.
A further 5 per cent have
moved some of their
savings into cryptocurrency.
