A survey of 1000 Australian consumers by
Reviews.org shows online reviews are read
by 95 per cent of Aussie consumers, and
86 per cent say they also read reviews before
going to a restaurant or approaching a
business for a product or service. However,
with 52 per cent saying they’ve fallen for
fake reviews, how can you spot the real deal?
The Australian Competition and Consumer
Commission has the following tips:
Seek information from
multiple sources.
2.
Look at multiple
reviews and comments
about a business and
take note of any
irregularities, such
as a spike in positive
reviews over a short
period, as they may
have been authored
by the same person.
3.
Be wary of reviewers
whose profile indicates
that they have only
ever written one review.
