We have re-commenced Messy Church on selected Sunday afternoons,
and these have proved to be very popular, and indeed have enabled us to
extend a warm welcome to our local families. At Holy Trinity we are
delighted to have also welcomed several children for their baptism. Our
school connection is growing and strong, especially under the friendship
and welcome of the new school head, Mrs. Lisa Higgs.
We have a wonderful team of readers and intercessors who contribute
skilfully to our worship. It is a gift too, to offer a warm and sincere welcome
to people. We continue to have a small but effective church choir, that
well supports our singing of God's praises on a Sunday morning. Our music
tradition is strong and valued not just on a Sunday morning, but also at
weddings and memorial services. Our PCC has been meeting every other
month, and we are well supported by two dedicated and wise church
wardens.
Our post-service refreshments are going full swing, and are very welcome,
aided by our regular team of coffee makers and cake bakers! We have an
impressive flower team, whose imagination and creativity know no
bounds. A group of people help to maintain the churchyard as a place of
real beauty, an oasis with attention paid to wild areas for bees, bugs,
butterflies and bunnies!
We have had some sadness amongst our church family life. Both Kev
Reynolds and Sue Stafford were significant figures in the lives of many of
us, both greatly loved and appreciated, and they will be deeply missed, as
will all our loved ones departed this life.
Various aspects of the on-going life of Holy Trinity include our outreach in
Kongwa, Tanzania and the 'bore-hole project' that we are supporting; there
is our on-going friendship with All Saints' Church in New Cross, and our
prayer group held each month, and the Women's Christian Fellowship, a
faithful band who meet regularly.
This is Platinum Jubilee Year, and we have an amazing four days to look
forward to - especially our Festival of Flowers the 2nd - 5th June, and our
Platinum Jubilee Celebration Service on the 5th. Plans for the Crockham Hill
Summer Fete on the 9th July are well under way; a wonderful opportunity
for the church and village to come together and produce a great afternoon
of fun, food and friendship.
At Holy Trinity, we move ahead always into new life.
Alison.
