Eden Christian Trust - it’s our 25th Anniversary

The Eden Christian Trust, commonly known as ECT, is celebrating its 25th
Anniversary. It was started by the amalgamation of several small youth
groups within the local churches, coming together to provide larger, more
adventurous activities.
ECT has links with the churches in the Edenbridge area with a Trustee from
each on the Management Committee. This allows for exchanging of ideas
and resources.
Young people of all faiths and none, aged 10-18 years old, are sure of a
warm, friendly, and inclusive welcome to our youth club, where they can
play pool, air hockey or table tennis, join in one of the craft or activity
sessions, chat to their mates, or listen to music. Trips to places of interest,
summer camps and involvement in national and international social action
projects are all part of the opportunities that are available. The club’s clear
popularity explains why there is a queue outside the door half an hour
before the advertised start time. The youngsters don’t want to get there
late as they know we have to shut up shop when we reach 50.
Those young people who want and need extra help in their lives can join
our One-to-One Mentoring Group, where adult mentors provide support
and encouragement. We have seen a lot of success in the past with young
people who have gained in confidence and self-esteem, and gone on the
achieve more than they thought possible.
Much of the success is down to Anthony Shipwright, our Youth Worker,
and his volunteers. He takes time to listen to the young people and inspires
