Czech Village Association
In 1974, a group of Czech immigrants and descendants
met to discuss what could be done to preserve the area
and the Czech Culture. Several organizations were
formed as a result of those meetings and one of them
was the Czech Village Association. This was to be a
group of merchants in the area who would work to preserve the businesses and promote the commercial area.
Over the years the Association has also worked to
preserve Czech/Slovak Culture.
In that capacity, the Association not only puts on this
celebration but also does other activities such as a Svaty
Mikulas celebration, small business Saturday, Deck the
District (Dec.) and other events. They also clean and
clear the parking lots and sidewalks in the village,
decorate for holidays and events and maintain the village area so it is a pleasant experience for visitors.
All of the members of the Association are volunteers,
and the association receives no money from the City or
State. We depend on advertisers and supporters, many
who are listed in this booklet. Our shops and restaurants are open year round. If you have enjoyed this
event, PLEASE come back and shop at our Houby
Days supporters!
