How to Make Divots on the Driving Range
When practicing on the range, we want the golfers to start making divots in a straight line. With a
straight line divot pattern, the ball is placed on the grassy back edge of the previous divot. That way,
only a small amount of turf is removed with each swing. A straight line method removes the least
amount of turf, leading to quicker recovery of the Bermuda grass, thus leading to a better surface to
practice off of. Take a look at the photos below as an example!

The excellent weather we had during the grow in has given way to an incredibly wet period with our
ability to even cut grass becoming severely hindered.
the rough in hopes of getting our mowers through it.
We have temporarily raised the mowing height of
Areas of scalping will be noticeable over the first
few weeks of August as we try to get a handle on the turf.
We will also be spraying growth regulators on
the tees and fairways as weather permits. The persistent rain has also meant more weed and insect
pressure throughout the course.
We will continue to treat when we are able.
Bunker work continues but has also been slowed by the weather.
We had hoped to be nearly complete by
the end of this month, but as we have seen, the weather plays a huge role in process.
We are now
moving into the most active months for tropical weather and I hope we are able to dodge any named
storms this season.
The sodded areas around the greens will be top dressed along with the greens throughout these next few
months as we continue to level the sod and firm-up the greens.
Green speeds and ball roll should
improve as we begin to ween the greens off of the high fertility grow in process.
