PROGRESS SO FAR
- CO2 FOOTPRINT
Between 2021 and 2022, STEFFCA underwent some
changes in its carbon emissions pro昀椀le. In 2021, the
company recorded 52 tonnes of CO2eq emissions
in Scope 1, primarily due to direct fuel consumption. Scope 2 accounted for 30 tonnes of CO2eq
emissions. However, in 2022, there was a minor
shift in this balance. Scope 2 emissions dropped
to 24 tonnes. At the same time, Scope 1 emissions
increased to 60 tonnes, mainly due to higher fuel
consumption driven by business expansion.
The signi昀椀cant decrease in Scope 2 emissions highlights the greener energy generation from the Danish
grid. Regarding the increase in Scope 1 emissions,
this is viewed as a transitional phase as STEFFCA
grows its operations. However, it's important to
recognize that STEFFCA has a long-term strategy to
introduce electric and hybrid vehicles into its 昀氀eet
gradually. This signi昀椀es a proactive approach to
reduce reliance on fossil fuels and decrease Scope
1 emissions over time. A total increase of only 1.5

tonnes of CO2 eq. was observed despite the signi昀椀cant business expansion of STEFFCA in 2022.
The substantial increases in Scope 3 emissions
between 2021 and 2022 for STEFFCA are indicative
of the company's growing commitment to thorough
and accurate emissions reporting. This signi昀椀cant
surge in emissions, particularly within the "Purchased Goods and Services" and "Upstream Transportation" subcategories, can be attributed to the
business expansion of STEFFCA.
Acknowledging the environmental impact associated with the global nature of STEFFCA’s operations
and sourcing, STEFFCA commits to providing more
detailed data for Scope 3 calculations, even at a
product-speci昀椀c level. The latter approach represents the best and most recommended method
for emissions calculations, fostering a more granular and accurate understanding of the organization's
carbon footprint.
