Kunst in Thy
The art of Thy
Thys herrliche Natur zog viele Künstler an. Einige stammen von
hier, andere zogen her oder kommen als Stammgäste immer
wieder.
Many artists have throughout the ages sought out Thy, especially
to paint in the magnificent scenery. Some have grown up in the
area, and others have returned again and again.
sehen.
This is reflected in the art experiences around Thy, where there
are many galleries and also where the Statens Museum for Kunst
has established its first external branch in Doverodde Købmandsgård, in the south of Thy.

Kirsten Kjærs Museum is known all over the country - created by
two doctors Harald Fuglsang and John Anderson, as a museum
for Harald Fuglsang’s relative Kirsten Kjær. She was one of
the great Danish portrait painters of the 20th century but also
painted landscapes in Lapland, Iceland, Liberia, and other countries. The museum also houses collections of Danish ceramics
and African art.
hier Arbeitsaufenthalte verbringen.
The museum also has guest exhibitions - and sometimes by artists who are assigned long- or short-term work stays.
