An Interview
with
Jessica
Caesar
Model, Actress, Tv
Producer
Cassandra: Jessica, please tell us
what inspired you to pivot from a career
as an engineer to follow your dreams of
becoming a model, actor and television
producer?
Jessica: When I was a kid, I always
16
dreamed of being on television and I
liked entertaining people and making
them laugh. When I was entering my
freshman year of high school, one day
I was contemplating, trying to 昀椀gure
out what I could honestly see myself
doing for the rest of my life. It was at
that moment when I realized I wanted
to be an actress. I looked up to Tyra
Banks and Halle Berry. They started
out as models, transitioned into acting
and later became executive producers.
I wanted to follow in their footsteps. I
was also heavily involved in the science
research club.
I really enjoyed doing science experiments and that’s how I landed my 昀椀rst
job in the summer working at Kennedy
Space Center (one of the NASA 昀椀eld
centers). I earned a ton of scholarships
my senior year because I was a woman and a minority pursing engineering.
Because of this, I told myself I would at
least give college a try.
But my heart wasn’t in
it. For my dream to become a reality, I knew
I had to give it my full
attention. I started taking on-camera acting
classes in Orlando,
FL. I also got a local
talent agent there and
booked the 昀椀rst two
TV Commercial auditions I went out on.
Shortly after, I decided
to drop out of college
and move to Los Angeles.
Cassandra: Throughout your career as a
professional
actress
you’ve
exempli昀椀ed
an incredible natural talent that shines
through on the screen.
Can you explain what
that moment was like
when you 昀椀rst discovered that you had what
it really took to be an
actor?
Jessica: I was working on my 昀椀rst TV pilot with a lot of wellknown actors and the director also
directed big budget studio 昀椀lms as well.
I was nervous on my way to set. I had a
lot of dialogue, and I didn’t want to forget or mess up any of my lines. I prayed
for moments like this, but started questioning if I was truly ready for this next
level in my career. I was able to calm
my nerves. I had to remind myself that
the director and producers chose me to
play this role for a reason. Once the
cameras started rolling, my con昀椀dence
shined through. I embraced the character e昀昀ortlessly and delivered my lines
perfectly. On my last day of working on
the pilot, the director came up to me
and said “Wow, you did an excellent
job. You’re a phenomenal actress”. This
was when I discovered I had what it
really took to be a working actor.
Cassandra: Your acting roles have
