demand. The scramble now is lots of
people think they can throw a party or
an event after watching a few YouTube
videos but that’s not the reality. Host-
Renee: Actually, believe it or not,
initially, I didn’t have need of working
capital when I started which gave me
an edge in making a go of it, but I still
felt like I was jumping o昀昀 a cli昀昀. But I
had no overhead, and I was just gritty. I
made it happen – it took longer without

Denise: How long have you been
working on this concept or in this
昀椀eld? And what keeps you motivated?
Renee: I started Events By Renee in
2007 and Party Host Helpers in 2013
and doors are continuing to open for
me all the time for expansion opportunities and access to creative outlets
that help support my business. Business success is based on trust and that’s
what we provide to our clients. What
motivates me is the joy of bringing happiness to others, relieving stress for my
clients by meeting their needs, and the
knowledge that I’ve been able to provide job opportunities for people in my
two companies.
Denise: COVID must have hit you
hard. Has your company recovered?
What was your greatest asset in the recovery process?
Renee: I’d say yes, were 昀椀nally recovering but it was brutal. And I’d have
to say my sta昀昀 has always been my
greatest asset. COVID of course shut
everything down. Weddings were canceled and rebooked on a much smaller
scale on much later dates and in some
instances still haven’t happened. It was
really heart breaking, but we did our
best to help everyone who had any type
of booking 昀椀nd the best solution to an
untenable situation. Competition for
event bookings has always been keen,
