After lighting the candles, parents bless their children. The Torah recounts
how Jacob blessed his grandchildren who grew up in Egypt. While they
lived there, Jacob’s family grew so big that it became a whole nation. That
is how the Passover story begins. The children at this seder are growing,
too. One day they will be grown up and may lead their own seders.
Adults place hands on children's heads and recite the blessing below:
Yevarechecha Adonai veyishmerecha.
Ya’er Adonai panav eilecha viyechuneka.
Yisa Adonai panav eilecha veyasem lecha shalom.
May God bless you and keep you safe.
May God’s light shine on you and grace your life.
May God turn toward you and give you a world of peace.
