orthopedic trauma: external skeletal fixation
External Skeletal Fixation
External Skeletal Fixation was first introduced in the
1840s. This type of fracture fixation relies on a variety
of pins, clamps, and connecting bars to provide
the stability that the bone needs to initiate the bone
remodeling process. SECUROS has a complete range
of external fixation products, available in two different
styles to suit the needs of the surgeon; the TITAN
system and the U Clamp system. Both systems have
the ability to add or remove pins without disrupting
the existing construct. The TITAN system is used with
Carbon Fiber or Aluminum connecting rods, providing
a lighter weight construct. The U clamp system is used
with Stainless Steel connecting rods.
