Since the introduction of the Crimping System in 1997, SECUROS has continued its
commitment to innovation by optimizing the Crimping Device design through multiple
generations. The PowerX Crimping Device is the 4th generation design, providing
superior crimping benefits over previous models.
Step by Step Extracapsular Stabilization
Step 1: Drill tibial tunnel centered in
or near the muscular groove of the
tibia. The tunnel should be placed
as proximal as possible with caution
taken to avoid entering the joint.
Step 2: For bone anchor technique,
insert bone anchor in lateral femoral
condyle and break away shaft. For
fabella technique, use cruciate needle
to pass suture around the fabella.
Step 3: Pass suture through bone
anchor, tibial tunnel, and caudal to
the patellar tendon. Loop suture
through primary crimp clamp and
place secondary crimp clamps on
end strands. Center PowerX crimping
device on secondary crimps and crimp
down completely.
Step 4: Using tensioning device,
apply tension to the suture loop. Test
for tibial thrust and cranial drawer
while tensioner holds the construct in
place.
Step 5: Once the ideal amount of
tension is applied and tibial thrust and
cranial drawer is eliminated, center
the PowerX crimping device on the
primary crimp clamp and crimp down
completely.
Step 6: Cut off the secondary crimp
clamps, leaving the suture loop and
only the primary crimp in the patient.
