Hold peel-away introducer, bevel
up, directly above vein with index
finger firmly placed on top of
stylet. Advance introducer into
vessel far enough to be sure it is
well seated.

Guidewire being advanced
from housing. Once guidewire
advanced to desired length,
remove housing and introducer
needle while holding onto the
guidewire.

Good flashback should be noted
or blood easily drawn into syringe
through stylet. Remove stylet
while stabilizing outer portion of
introducer. Advance long term
catheter through catheter of peelaway introducer.

Hold catheter hub or extension
set against animal. Grasp blue tabs
with thumb and forefinger of both
hands. Gently pull up and out to
separate blue tabs. Introducer
should split above the skin.

The catheter will back out of
insertion site an inch or so during
peel-away procedure but can be
easily pushed back.

Suture catheter individually at
each wing around suture groove
and toward insertion site.
Also, suture the extension to
the animal.
Always hold onto guidewire.

Slide the distal end of the
catheter onto guidewire and
advance until guidewire comes
through the catheter hub.
Grasp wire above the catheter
hub. Advance catheter into
vein by holding catheter near
insertion site and pushing into
place. Remove guidewire.
Suture catheter individually at
each wing around suture groove
and toward insertion site.
Also, suture the extension to
the animal.
