SHIRAZ/OTHER REDS
Schwarz ‘The Grower’
Shiraz 2019
Region: Barossa, SA
Variety: Shiraz
Notes: This year’s Grower Shiraz is a thrilling release. The full
spectrum of Barossa Shiraz’s aromatic capability is here on show,
from scorched earth, bitter couverture chocolate, just dried raisin,
sweet red licorice and cola bean, all heady, defined and un-wound
for all to see. Here, the fine line between luxurious fruit and energy
is walked gracefully, its warming and full blooded nature tethered by
lifted acidity.

Querciabella
Mongrana 2017
Region: Tuscany, Italy
Variety: Sangiovese/Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot
Notes: Raised in concrete to retain varietal character and freshness,
the name of the game here is drinkability and Mongrana delivers
that in spades with its cohort of plump, juicy, red and dark fruit
characters, lovely perfume and gently giving tannins. It’s built to
over-deliver on character, while remaining fresh and inviting. It’s
most at home on the table with food, family and friends. This is a
perennial favourite with us for its sheer deliciousness and the 2017
is no exception. A little darker than last year’s iteration but also with a
dollop more lip smacking fruit. Great little wine!
