Student Life and Traditions
Cambridge is a hotbed of learning but, as
the one of the oldest universities in the
world, is full of tradition.
After three (or more!) years of hard work
students graduate at Senate House in
bow ties, gowns and hoods.
Following exam term students blow off
steam at Cambridge May Balls. The White
Tie events are famous around the world.
The river isn’t just for punting. Oxford and
Cambridge have formed a 200 year rivalry
surrounding the Varsity Rowing Race.
Seeing famous intellectuals roaming the
streets is an every day occurrence. Ian
McKellen and many others are often
found walking down King’s Parade.
Cambridge is renowned for its union and
the speeches and debates that happen
