Remembrance day).

topic
B. Aim for backwards planning for
the module (may extend over a half
term):
- Fill in the next test / assessment
date.
- Have a revision lesson
- Plan HW tasks for the module that
build up the required skills
- Spread those out during the module.
- Share this with the students – if they
know that the HW tasks are going to
help them prepare / practice /
consolidate etc.
- More likely to engage as they can
see ‘the point of it all’.
- Schedule HW in advance where
possible, using Google Classroom
Printed resources
Make booklets for a module where
possible.
Mine include: practical labs,
worksheets, useful diagrams or
complicated slides (to stop students
wasting time in lessons mindlessly
copying off the board etc.).
Diary
It's easy to see where pairs of classes
(same year) are on the same day as
this can help with planning practical
labs and quick to flick through when
filling in lessons, HW tasks, important
notes etc.
We work on an A and B week so it's
easy to get muddled. I use a coloured
sticker for each week - I recognise the
colour and know the week.
I write the week number (1-7) for the
term, not for the year. Week 27 means
nothing but week 6 or 7 means 'the
end of the half term'.
I make a small note in pencil T-1, T-2,
T-3 etc. counting backwards from the
test date so that it's quick and easy to
see where tests are coming up and
also handy to remind students too.
Use it as much as possible – it is my
lifeline and has made planning / work
so much easier. It might take a bit of
time to set up but the time it has
saved me has been vast.
I have 6 mm coloured dot stickers for
each class.
