The Letter F
- Point to the picture of a face. Point to the flashcard of the letter F. Tell
pupils: The name of the letter is F and the sound is /f/ (face). Do you
know any words that begin with the sound /f/?
- Elicit: face, feet, 5, frog, family, 4, falafel, father, feel, floor.
- Put picture cards of some of these words under the F flashcard.
- Put wordcards under the pictures.
- Repeat together with pupils: fox, face, frog. Emphasize the /f/ sound.
- Chant together with pupils: The letter is F. The sound is /f/.
- Ask for a volunteer to find the letter F on the ABC strip.
- Ask pupils: What letters do we know that are before F? after F?

Writing
- Draw the house and write the Ff in the house.
- As you write the letters, talk about what you are doing. Show pupils how
the big F and the small f both go up to the roof.
- Now have pupils write the letter F with a finger, in the air and on their desks.

Game

ABC Beanbag Throw/Emotion Cube (game #53)
- Scatter all the letter flashcards that pupils have learned on the floor. Pupils
take turns tossing the beanbag (soft ball, sponge, etc.). When they hit a card,
they say the letter, its sound and words that begin with the sound.
- This game can also be played as a group competition.
