Draw a big ‘L’ on the Letter House poster. Have students draw big ‘L’s in the air. Then,
have them draw a row of big ‘L’s on page 12 in their Workbooks.
As they draw each ‘L’ students can chant: The letter is ‘L’. The sound /l/. The word is
'listen', the word is ‘look’.
Activity 3
• Say: Circle the big letter ‘L’s. The letters must be in the correct direction and not
upside down or backwards.
Activity 4
• Look at the pictures at the bottom of page 12.
• Ask students what each picture shows. Say the word written below each picture: lion,
lollipop, Lily, lemon.
• Have students repeat the words after you.
• Have students trace the letters ‘L’ and ‘l’ in the words with a pencil.
Name Cards Activity
If there are any students in the class whose names begin with ‘L’, do the following:
• Say the name of the student. Ask: What sound do we hear at the beginning of the
name? (/l/)
• Hold up the card with the student’s name.
• Tell them that this is how we write ___________’s name in English. Point out that
names in English begin with a big letter.
• Give the card to the student to attach to their desk.

• Hold up your RIGHT hand with all of your fingers pointing upwards and your thumb
straight out to the left.
