ABC Poster and Mural
• Ask a student to find the letter ‘L’ on the ABC poster. As the student points to it, all say:
Look, look, the letter is ‘L’. Listen, listen, the sound is /l/. Have them do the actions as
they say it.
• Hold up the ‘Ll’ mural piece.
• Stick the mural piece on the right letter on the ABC poster on the wall.
• Sing the ABC Song (track 7). When you get to the letter ‘L’ in the song, have students
raise their left hands in the shape of ‘L’.
• As you sing the song, point to each letter as you sing it. Sing slowly.
Letter Cards
• Open the Workbook to pages 41 and 45.
• Have students carefully remove the 'L' and 'l' Letter Cards.
• Tell students to repeat after you and do the actions: Look, look. The letter is ‘L’. Listen,
listen, the sound is /l/.
• Play track 8: The letter is ‘L’. The sound is /l/. The word is 'listen', the word is ‘look’.
• Say: Hold up the card with the big ‘L’.
• Say: Hold up the card with the small ‘l’.
• Now tell them to raise the Letter Cards that you call out: big 'L' or small ‘l'. Mix up the
order in which you call out the letters, e.g. big ‘L’, big ‘L’, big ‘L’, small ‘l’, small ‘l’, big
‘L’. Call out slowly and then more quickly.
• Have students store the Letter Cards in the envelope or bag for future use.
