Letter Cards
• Open the Workbook to pages 43 and 45.
• Have students carefully remove ‘W’ and ‘w’ Letter Cards.
• Ask: What is the same and what is different between ‘W’ and ‘w’? (They look the same
but one is big and one is small.)
• Have students take out their Letter Cards, find the big and small ‘V’s and ‘W’s and
match them.
• Say: Point to the letter ‘V’. Chant together: The letter is ‘V’. The sound is /v/. The word
is ‘violin’. Do the action.
• Say: Point to the letter ‘W’. Chant with the class: The letter is ‘W’. The sound is /w/.
The word is ‘wings’. Do the wings action.
Wings Drawing
• Make the ‘birds wings’ with your hands and put your hands up against the board.
• Have a student trace around your hands so that you can see the shape of the bird on
the board.
• With a different colored marker, trace the shape of the letter ‘W’ in the bird.
• Have students work in pairs to make bird wings and ‘W’s on sheets of paper.
• Cut out the birds and hang them up around the class.
• Bring string to class to make mobiles.
ABC Poster, Mural and Song
• Have a student point to the letters ‘Ll’, ‘Ii’, ‘Vv’ and ‘Ww’ on the ABC poster.
• Tell students to chant: The letter is __. The sound is / /. The word is ____. Do the
appropriate actions for each letter.
• Hold up the mural piece for ‘Ww’. Ask students where they think the ‘Ww’goes? (after
the ‘Vv’)
• Hang up the ‘Ww’ mural piece.
• Show students on the poster that ‘Ww’ is near the end of the alphabet.
• Sing the ABC Song (track 7). Do the actions that go with the letters learned.

Open the Workbook to page 15.
Activity 1
• Have students take out their plasticine. Have them roll small logs to cover the ‘w’s at
the top of the page.
• Have students color the letters at the top of the page, following the direction of the
arrows.
