Activity 2
• Draw a small ‘w’ on the Letter House poster. Ask students where small ‘w’ lives. (in the
middle of the house)
• Draw a big ‘W’ on the Letter House poster. Ask where big ‘W’ lives. (on the top floor
and in the middle of the house)
• Have students write rows of ‘Ww’s. As they write each letter, they can chant: The
letter is ‘W’. The sound /w/. The word is ‘wings’.

Letter Search
• Have students circle all the letter ‘W’s in the box.
• Ask them how many they circled. (7)

• Look at the pictures.
• Ask students what each picture shows. Say the word written below each picture (wolf,
wings, window) and have students repeat after you.
• Have students trace the ‘w’s.
• Ask students: What other letters they see that they know? (In the word ‘wolf’, they
know the ‘l’. In the words ‘wings’ and ‘window’ they know the ‘i’)
• Have students trace those letters too.
• Ask them to find another ‘w’ that is not at the beginning of the word. (window)
