Hang up the mural piece.
Sing the ABC Song (track7) and do the actions for the letters learned.

Open the Workbook to page 18.
Activity 1
• Have students take out their plasticine. Have them roll small logs to cover the ‘Z’s at
the top of the page.
• Have students color the letters at the top of the page, following the direction of the
arrows.
Activity 2
• Draw a small ‘z’ on the Letter House poster. Ask students where small ‘z’ lives? (in the
middle of the house)
• Draw a big ‘Z’ on the Letter House poster. Ask where big ‘Z’ lives. (on the top floor and
in the middle of the house)
• Have students write rows of ‘Zz’s. As they write each letter, they can chant the ‘Z’
Chant.
Activity 3
• Look at the zebra. Ask: What letter do the lines on the zebra look like? (‘Z’)
• Say: ‘Zebra’ begins with the letter ‘Z’. Look at the zebra. How many ‘Z’s can you find
on the zebra. (4)
• Trace over the ‘Z’s.
Activity 4
• Look at the pictures.
• Ask students what each picture shows. Say the word written below each picture. (zoo,
zipper)
• Have students repeat the words after you.
• Have students trace the ‘Z’s.
• Now ask them, what other letters they know in the word ‘zipper’. (‘i’)
• Have students trace it with a pencil.
