Hang up the mural piece.
Sing the ABC Song (track 7). Do the actions for the letters they have learned.

Open the Workbook to page 22.
Activity 1
• Have students take out their plasticine. Have them roll small logs to cover the ‘C’s at
the top of the page.
• Have students color the letters at the top of the page, following the direction of the
arrows.
Activity 2
• Draw a small ‘c’ on the Letter House poster.
• Ask where small ‘c’ lives. (in the middle of the house)
• Draw a big ‘C’ on the Letter House poster.
• Ask where the big ‘C’ lives. (on the top floor and in the middle of the house)
• Have students write rows of ‘Cc’s. As they write each letter they can say the sound /k/
and the word ‘cold’.
Activity 3: Cold Cocoa in a Coffee Cup
• Hold up a coffee cup. Ask students what this is in English. (cup)
• Ask which word begins with the sound /k/. (cup)
• Now ask: What can we put into the cup that starts with the sound /k/? (coffee,
cola, cocoa)
• Pour some cold cocoa into your cup. Say: Cold Cocoa in a Coffee Cup. Have
students repeat.
• Give each student a cup. One at a time, each student then says: Cold cocoa in
a coffee cup, please.
• Pour some cocoa into their cup. As you go around the class, the other students
may begin to do Activity Three.
• Tell students to circle all of the ‘c’ shapes they see in the picture, including the
ones in the phrase ‘Cold cocoa in a coffee cup’.
Activity 4
• Look at the pictures.
• Ask what each picture shows.
• Say the word written below each picture. (cookies, cat, cold)
• Have students repeat the words after you.
• Have students trace the ‘C’s.
• Have students find other letters that they know. E.g. ‘k’ and ‘i’ in ‘cookie’, ‘o’ and
‘l’ in ‘cold’.
