ABC Poster, Mural and Song
• Have a student point to the letters ‘Ee’ on the poster.
• Tell students to chant and do the appropriate action: /ĕ/ /ĕ/ elephant. The letter is ‘E’.
The sound is /ĕ/. The word is ‘elephant’. The word is ‘egg’.
• Hold up the mural piece for ‘Ee’.
• Ask students where they think the letter ‘Ee’ goes. (After the letters ‘Dd’)
• Hang up the mural piece.
• Sing the ABC Song (track 7). Do the actions for the letters they have learned.

Open the Workbook to page 28.
Activity 1
• Have students take out their plasticine. Have them roll small logs to cover the ‘E’s at
the top of the page.
• Have students color the letters at the top of the page, following the direction of the
arrows.
Activity 2
• Draw a small ‘e’ on the Letter House Poster. Draw students’ attention to directionality.
• Ask students where small ‘e’ lives. (in the middle of the house)
• Draw a big ‘E’ on the Letter House poster.
• Ask where big ‘E’ lives. (on the top floor and in the middle of the house)
• Have students write a row of ‘Ee’s. As students write each letter they can say the
sound /ĕ/.
Activity 3
• Draw students' attention to the picture.
• Ask what they see in the picture. (The elephant is afraid of a mouse.)
• Ask them if they think that it is true that elephants are really afraid of mice. (no)
• Ask: What letter can you see on the mouse’s body? (e)
• Now tell them to trace over the ‘e’ with a colored marker.
• Have them trace over the ‘e’s on all four of the elephant’s feet.
