A jar with jelly candies
Plasticine/pipe cleaners
Before the Lesson

Prepare Name Cards for students whose names begin with ‘J’.
Provide one jelly candy for each student.
Lesson Procedure
Small 'j' Action and Chant
• Ask what a frog and a kangaroo do. (jump)
• With your right hand, hold all your fingers straight up together. Stick out the right
thumb to the side to make a ‘J’ shape.

Move your right arm up and down while holding your hand in the shape of a ‘j’ and say:
/j/ /j/ jump, /j/ /j/ jump.
Have students do the action and words with you.
Draw a ‘j’ on the board.
