Brixham is a quaint hillside town with a vibrant fishing port,
attracting visitors from all over the world all year round. Along
the picturesque harbourside you can see local fishermen
landing their daily catch from a fleet of over 70 boats.
Home to the world famous Brixham Fish Market and at the heart
of England’s Seafood Coast, the freshest fish is served at many
local restaurants, family run bistros and waterfront takeaways.
Beautifully restored heritage sailing vessels and ferry boats offer
regular trips across the bay.
Brixham has a great choice of places to stay including selfcatering apartments with plenty of character and charming
fisherman’s cottages with stunning sea views. Many are just a
stone’s throw to the bustling harbourside with its shops, cafes
and restaurants.
Berry Head National Nature Reserve, a gateway site to the
English Riviera’s designated UNESCO Global Geopark has
panoramic coastal views, a Napoleonic fort and lighthouse in
a breath-taking location.
There’s an abundance of visitor attractions celebrating the
town’s fishing and shipbuilding past, its rich heritage and culture.
Popular events take place throughout the year including
Torbay Steam Fair, Brixham Pirate Festival, and Lanterns,
Lights and ‘luminations. Swashbuckling Pirate Days are centred
around the Old Fish Market.
Breakwater Beach, a popular spot for scuba diving, has some
of the warmest and calmest waters in the country with regular
sightings of rare seagrass beds, seahorses, fish and shipwrecks.
Further along the coast is Shoalstone Beach with a Victorian
seawater pool, built on a natural rock pool.
The English Riviera’s 22 miles of stunning coastline forms
part of the famous South West Coast Path and there are plenty
of woodland walks and cliff top paths for ramblers and dog
walkers across the English Riviera UNESCO Global Geopark.
