The New Park Community Association
New Park boasts an enviable location on the outskirts of Bovey Tracey, a welcoming
Devon market town known as the Gateway to Dartmoor.
The mature woodland environment, large lake and views of the rolling hills of Dartmoor
have always made this park popular. It is however, the hard work of the residents who
run the Community Association that make this park stand out.
The
New
Park
Community
Association (NPCA) has been
running for 30 years in various
forms with the latest incarnation
forming in 2012 after a last-minute
stay-of-execution.
The hard work, flexibility and
commitment
from
the
new
committee has formed a brilliant
association that benefits all
residents on the site.
FAMILY FUN
In 2013 the First Fete snaked
through the roads of the park
using resident’s driveways for
stalls and displays. A garage was
turned into a kitchen and part of
a road closed with tables & chairs
for refreshments. This has now
become an annual event, with each
year offering a different theme.
Residents invite their children
and grandchildren to help set
up, clear away and join in with
events. A typical fete includes
competitions, a gazebo of crafts,
cake making, preserves, sweets,
flower arrangements, photography,
art and handy crafts.
There are numerous stalls including
games, vintage cars, charity stand,
tombola, singing duo, accordionist
& Morris Dancers.
It is always well supported by local
councillors, the Mayor, the Town
Clerk and in 2015, MP Mel Stride
and his family attended.
