APPENDIX A
Fundraising
All Schools Fundraise
Public, private, or charter: education relies on community support to
grow and flourish.
As a Montessori charter school, our program offers
a private education for a public school price, yet we
receive 80% (or less) of the funding that other public
schools are provided by the government.
To fill in the gap, and to provide the best program we can conceive of,
we host fundraisers throughout the year.
Help with these efforts can come from many different quarters:
from making one-time or monthly donations to the Meriwether
Fund, to pledging support during our fall and spring runraisers, participating in pledge drives and auctions, or in volunteering time and
expertise in organizing, planning, and soliciting donations.
These funds directly support student learning by providing enrichment programs like music, art and language; bus transportation to
and from school; Exceptional Education; school counseling services,
and support staff.
We do everything possible to coordinate activities so that families are
not inundated with fundraisers, and so that they are appropriate to
our organization and consistent with the school’s practices and philosophies. Ideas for fundraisers may be presented to the Executive Director, to a Board member, or to the Development Committee.
Lewis & Clark Montessori is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and
as such, donors may benefit from the tax advantage as the law allows.
