OPERATIONS
Tardy/Absence Policy
Students are expected to be in class at 8:15 every day. To excuse an
absence or tardiness, please inform the school as soon as possible via
email, SchoolCues, or a note ahead of time.
Examples of excused absence/tardiness include: medical appointments, illness, vacation, and bereavement. Even with notification,
please remember to check in at the front office with your student
when arriving after 8:15. Tardiness and school absence become part
of each student’s permanent record.
If a student is late or absent and the school has not been informed
by 8:30 a.m. your child will be marked absent and the online
District attendance program will automatically contact you by phone
with a recorded message to inform you.
Chronic absence and/or tardiness will be reviewed, and a family consultation with the guide and/or Director of Education may be required for the student to continue in the program.
Oregon State Law (ORS 339 010-339.990) requires that
students attend school on a regular basis. Eight (8) or more
unexcused half-day absences in a four-week period are considered a violation of Oregon school attendance requirements.
In an attempt to support families who find it challenging to get students to school on a regular basis, a Lewis & Clark Montessori staff
member may make personal or phone contact with parents to offer
carpool opportunities, bus information, or other assistance to meet
family needs in relation to attendance.
