POLICIES
Parent-Staff Communication
Parents at Lewis & Clark Montessori can expect to be well informed
as to their student’s activities and progress, which is consistent with
the Montessori philosophy that education is a partnership between
students, parents, and guides.
Strong, positive, and open communication with parents is one
of our main goals. Each staff member has their own school email
address, and you are welcome to email them directly.
Students have weekly work expectations based on their individual
needs, and guides will communicate with parents in a manner best
suited to their classroom operations. The school also has regularly
scheduled conference dates, and guides may contact you at other
times and are available for meetings at your request.
If you would like more information than you
are receiving, please schedule a time with your
child’s guide to speak with them directly.
Because guides dedicate their time between 8:00 - 3:30 to their students, we ask you to make an appointment when you wish to speak
with the guide. This will be more productive than dropping by the
classroom or trying to meet during drop-off or pick-up times.
Notes, voicemail, and email are effective ways to schedule meetings
or to answer quick questions. If direct or immediate communication
is necessary, please indicate that in your message.
Please respect the staff’s wish to give their full attention to the children
during the school day. If you think you need assistance in communicating with a guide, please contact the Director of Education.
