2009-2010
Opening Evergreen
Evergreen opened in September of 2009 at the Lutheran Church with four classrooms.
Enrollment for the 2009-2010 year was as follows.
Staff participated in a two-week professional development session prior to the opening of the school.
Evergreen’s mission and vision were introduced to staff.
The school used an earth flag to represent all peoples. Our pledge and promise represented values to educate
the head, heart and hand.
The Evergreen School Promise:
I promise to respect myself, respect others and respect the earth’s resources.
Promesa de la Escuela Evergreen:
Prometo respetarme a mi mismo, respetar a los demás, y respetar los recursos de nuestro planeta Tierra.
The Evergreen School Pledge:
I pledge to protect the earth, respect the web of life upon it and to honor the dignity of every member of our
global family, one planet, one people, one world, in harmony with peace, freedom and justice for all.
2010
Círculo obtained its certificate of occupancy to open the Center on January 5, 2010. This was a momentous
occasion! The first floor had classrooms, a multipurpose room, and a kitchen. The second floor had one small
finished room and the lower level housed boilers, the electrical room, a technology room and a refrigerator
and freezer. Even though the second floor and lower level of the facility consisted of unfinished space, it was
an exciting moment and Círculo celebrated!
Evergreen Charter School moved into the Círculo Center after the Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend in January
2010, using classrooms on the first floor for its kindergarten and first grades, and a room on the second floor
for English as a Second Language. In addition, Círculo began operating its after-school program, that had
been licensed by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services, at the Center.
