11th anniversary book 114 FINAL online - Flipbook - Page 47
On Monday, March 16, 2020, the school officially closed to students. Administrators and staff, in preparation
of school closure, distributed lesson packets to students the previous week. Staff planned distance learning
activities for those students with digital access. Staff are continuing to develop resources to share with our
students and their families as it becomes available.
Evergreen’s Kitchen Staff changed from in school meal preparation to grab and go bags for students to ensure
that they could continue to receive breakfast and lunch during the school closure. Distribution is taking
place in the elementary school patio from 7 am to 10 am. Now, on its third day, March 18, we fed almost 100
students. This number has nearly doubled in three days since distribution began on March 16 following our
school closure.
Evergreen is grateful for its staff and administration who have responded above and beyond to the needs of our
Evergreen students, their families, and our Evergreen community during this difficult time for all.
Future Steps
As we plan for our future, we are cognizant of the challenges ahead. We are working hard to plan for
additional expansion and a new facility that will be large enough to encompass our growth. Mr. Bernardino,
Dr. Brewster and Matt Dapolito, Evergreen’s Financial Consultant, have continued to spearhead talks with
charter school investors and other financial institutions to explore financing for Evergreen’s growth. Matt has
been instrumental in helping to prepare fiscal plans for Evergreen’s future growth.
As we plan for long term sustainability, we want to ensure that Evergreen remains financially stable and that
it continues to have a strong record of academic achievement. These are the most significant elements that
impact the viability of the institution.
We are grateful to all for their support and efforts to help Evergreen be the best that it can be. Our students
have worked hard to shine. We are proud of them and their achievements.
We want to ensure the viability of Evergreen for future generations so it can continue to support all students
to become considerate, caring, and responsible world citizens that help to make a positive difference on our
planet.
Together we have made a difference. Together we will continue to do so. Gracias.
