2018 IN REVIEW
COAST TO COAST
A new year at Experience Camps means
new kids, new camps, and new memories to
be made. In 2018, we increased our camper
numbers, added a camp for girls in Maine,
and moved to new facilities in Pennsylvania
and California to accommodate the
increasing demand in those regions. We
will continue to expand in 2019 with the
opening of our Midwest camp in Michigan.
BY THE NUMBERS
It's hard to measure what it means to a grieving child to
be with other kids who "get it". How do you put a
number on feeling joy...understood...connected...or just
plain happy? How do you quantify the relief a parent
feels when she sees her child smiling in a picture for the
first time in a long time and knows he is being cared for?
You really can't. But we'll try...
581 CAMPERS
A 39% increase in campers from 2017, representing kids from
27 states, with all kinds of differences amongst them, who
honor and respect what makes them the same. Grief.
333 VOLUNTEERS
That's 29% growth in volunteer numbers, but even more
importantly, 71% of our volunteers returned from 2017, creating
continuity and quality for our programs.
27 STATES
As our camp locations have spread across the country, so has
the reach to all corners of the U.S. (and now Canada!). This
year, campers were bussed and flown from 27 different states,
creating a truly national program reach.
