We made our campers
experts on TikTok and
expanded our reach.
In February, we launched an account
on TikTok — the most popular social media
platform today for young people. We share
irreverent grief humor, expert advice from
clinicians, and most popularly, reflections
from campers about their grief journeys.
We’ve reached millions of eyes and gained
over 115,000 followers (and counting). On top
of that, our TikTok channel introduced us to
several campers and brought in more than
50 volunteer applications! Most importantly,
we’ve showcased our campers as the true
experts they are on navigating grief —
teaching hundreds of thousands of people how
to show up for people who are grieving.
We shined the spotlight on
grief in a major documentary.
This past summer, Brut Media, a media
company with 500M unique viewers monthly,
sent filmmaker Léo Hamelin to our camp in
Michigan to film campers sharing personal
stories for a 20-minute documentary. Campers
spoke openly about their feelings around grief,
how people do and don’t show up for them at
home, and how Experience Camps is helping
them heal. We are proud of how candid and
brave our campers were, and are thrilled to
report that almost one million people so far
have screened the documentary and learned
from them.
