Servicing the diverse and pristene Southeastern region of Tasmania, the Sorell Times,
East Coast View & Tasman Gazette have been a voice for local business, council and
community advocacy for nearly three decades.
As the area has experienced unprecedented growth in recent years, these sister papers
have been integral in recording and supporting the region’s rise, famous for its unique
coastal lifestyle among both locals and commuting shack owners, as well as international
sea-changers and climate migrants. Under the leadership of veteran journalist and former
deputy editor of The Mercury, Martine Haley, they have continued to bolster the coast’s
famous and growing viticulture, distilling and tourism sectors, as an area which regularly
tops the must-visit bucket lists.
As a monthly paper, the Times, View & Gazette are distributed both directly to subscribers,
as well as hosted at several tourist and community hotspots along the coast; the Times
centres on the growing commuter township of Sorell, taking in the Southern Beaches, as
well as the southern Coal Valley (Richmond, Cambridge, Seven Mile Beach etc.) and skirts
the Greater Hobart urban sprawl. The Gazette distributes from Dunalley to the historic
Port Arthur at the southern end of the peninsula, while the View circulates from Buckland
to Bicheno, comprising the entire Glamorgan Spring Bay council area.
The three mastheads operate as a split run, meaning that while at least five pages of lead
editorial content is published unique to each paper, advertisers enjoy triplicated exposure
in all three markets for the price of one.
