NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK
National Volunteer Week
(NVW) is Australia’s largest
annual celebration of
volunteers. From Monday
17 to Sunday 23 May 2021,
NVW will celebrate the
significant contribution
of Australia’s almost six
million volunteers. Each
year these volunteers
dedicate over 600 million
hours to help others. As a
community we would like
to use this opportunity
to acknowledge the
generous contribution
of our local volunteers.
As the community finds
its new normal after
what was a treacherous
year due to COVID-19,
we are seeing our local
Community
Groups
come together again
to reconnect, we now
more than ever recognise
and
acknowledge
the
importance
of
local
volunteers.
Evidence shows that
volunteering connects
us to others in our local
communities, to better
mental well-being or
to potential pathways
to employment. When
we help others in our
community
or
give
our time to a cause
we value, we also give
back
to
ourselves.
Tasman Council’s Mayor,
Councillors,
General
Manager and Staff would
like to recognise and
thank, our hard working
local volunteers for their
dedication to our local
Community. Many events,
functions & services
would not be provided, if it
was not for these valuable
and passionate residents.

include Murdunna and Dunalley on
the following roads; Hawker Street,

The Roads Maintenance team

of overhanging limbs. Roadside
Shouldering works are scheduled for
May including the following areas;
Nubeena, Port Arthur and Murdunna.
Inclement weather and the short

confidently working to reach set
targets to complete the program.

Roaring Beach Road, Nubeena

The Parks and Gardens crew continue
to repair deliberately vandalised

of vandalism continues to cost
our community and interrupts
scheduled works programs. Please
be vigilant when at our parks and
report vandalism to Tasmania Police.
Along
with
routine

to this, several projects are

So again, we ask that all road users
please follow all permanent and
temporary road signage on our roads,
ensuring the safety of not only road
workers, but to keep all road users safe.
