The Conduit, Q2 2020 - Flipbook - Page 3
A Message from our President & CEO
When I was preparing the opening letter for Q1 edition that we published in
February, the excitement from having recently completed our Gaylor
National Summit was foremost on my mind. It was a pleasure to have the
opportunity to share the many photos and provide links to different videos
that displayed how big that event was for Gaylor. Like so many companies,
we were off to a fantastic start for 2020 and moving toward another record
year in growth and profit. Then came March when the brunt of the COVID19 virus began to hit. Suddenly, like everyone else, we were scrambling to
find out all we could about this virus and how it could affect us…and many
parts of the country literally shut down.
Part of the cornerstone of Gaylor Electric is our Genuine Care for People.
We felt if we could provide consistent communications it would enable us to
take a proactive approach, to provide up-to-date information so we could
minimize misinformation that could cause confusion. Starting with an all-company email on Friday,
March 13, I began sending communication updates to all our employees on Monday and Friday of each
week. This was continued through April 17. After that date, I tapered off to once a week email. As you
know, starting on March 19, I also began sending weekly communications to all our business partners;
everyone who is on this mailing list.
Now, here we are in Q2. As we move into May many parts of the country are reopening and people are
regaining the freedom to move about and get back to living as they choose. Businesses are opening
their doors and people are coming out of quarantine. In a few more months much of what took place
during March and April is in most people’s rearview mirror.
I am so thankful for the Gaylor Electric teams and the GRIT they displayed during those intense weeks
of March-April. The change in circumstances did not knock us off our solid cornerstone of Reliable
Resources, Outcomes and Insights fueled by our Genuine Care for People. We looked at that essential
business designation as an opportunity to keep a sense of normalcy for our employees and to keep our
project relationships strong.
As our country gets back to 100%, I am reminded of the following quote:
“You may forget how you behaved when the going got tough, but others won’t.”
We have and will remain focused on being the highest performing national contractor of excellence. My
hope is that you will remember that no matter the circumstances, Gaylor delivers on our commitment to
provide Reliable Resources, Reliable Outcomes and Reliable Insights for all our customers fueled by
our Genuine Care for People!
Thank you for being part of our continuing Gaylor Electric story as we write new chapters. Stay safe
and take care of each other.
