The Conduit, Q3 2020 - Flipbook - Page 3
A Message from our President & CEO
I took a few minutes and reviewed my letter for the Q2 Conduit…
and as I read it, it’s clear to me that I was under the impression
that we were on the tail end of the COVID-19 event. I’ve always
chosen the optimistic viewpoint on things. So here are, now into
our sixth month of learning to do business in a pandemic. The
ups and downs the country, let alone the world, have
experienced during these months have not been anything that
any of us could have anticipated.
From the start of this health crisis we have used our cornerstone
Chuck Goodrich
of delivering Reliable Resources, Outcomes, and Insights fueled
by our Genuine Care for People to guide our day-to-day operations. This performance
cornerstone has provided us with what it was designed to do, which is to provide the
basic, essential, or most important part of Gaylor’s foundation. Our cornerstone has
clearly defined “the how” of our operations. I am fully persuaded that this clear path for
operations has enabled us to keep our teams employed and our clients satisfied. I am
truly thankful our company had such a plan in place.
One thing we have all learned through this experience is that life continues despite
unfavorable conditions. In business, when we can accurately anticipate something major
or drastic is going to happen, we can make the necessary preparations to see it through
to a successful completion. It is the unexpected events, whether short or long in
duration, that can define a company. The ability to adjust quickly to new circumstance
separates the great from the good. I am so proud of our teams’ proven ability to remain
flexible to make any and all adjustments through these trying times. My optimism
continues to grow for the remainder of 2020.
Gaylor is blessed with a talented and committed workforce that is second to none! Our
resilience and GRIT are on display everyday…no matter the challenges set before us.
We have continued growing and developing through this crisis, and have remained an
opportunity providing employer of choice as a leader in the construction industry.
Thanks again for your part in the Gaylor story. My hope is that you are healthy and
safe…and that as we all continue moving through this health crisis, you will see our
reliability on display with each project we are on. Stay safe and take care of each other.
