Nashville Wins
Excellence in Construction
TriStar Medical Center
1st Place Electrical Commercial
The population of Nashville, Tennessee has been growing at an incredible rate. The city is
currently ranked as one of top 5 regions for growth in the country, and is expected to reach the
2-million mark by 2020. Because of the increased volume of people, Nashville has seen an
increase in trauma patients – up 128% since 2015. In addition, there has also been an
unfortunate spike in violent crimes in the past decade – which is 197% higher in comparison to
the national average. With an increased need for medical attention, the previously existing one
level-one trauma center at TriStar Skyline Medical Center could no longer satisfy the
emergency demand.
Among the benefits of a solid preconstruction plan, virtual design played a large
role in the successful delivery of Skyline Medical Center. Starting with our engineering team,
the expansion project was designed 100% through BIM. Using Revit, the model aided in fast
tracking the build by providing a detailed plan for the design and installation process of the
expansion facility. This was especially valuable when it came to the challenges associated with
bringing power from a fully operational hospital, to the new facility through overhead and
underground means of distribution
