COLD WEATHER PREPAREDNESS
DRESS IN LAYERS.
Dressing properly for the temperature is extremely
important in preventing cold stress. Wearing
multiple layers will provide better insulation.
PREVENT SLIPS, TRIPS, AND FALLS.
Clear all walking paths of snow and ice, and
spread deicer as quickly as possible after a winter
storm. If walking on slippery surfaces is
unavoidable, take short steps and walk slowly.
SHOVELING SNOW.
Possible risks related to shoveling snow include
exhaustion, dehydration, back injuries, or other
health-related incidents. To avoid injury, warm up
before starting the activity, take frequent breaks in
warm areas, and use proper lifting techniques.
WINTER DRIVING.
While driving in winter weather, remember the
three P's of safety:
-Prepare for the trip
-Protect yourself
-Prevent crashes on the road
