Trainings
One way we accomplish our mission is by providing partners with free adaptive training,
equipment and support so that they can serve people with disabilities inclusively,
participating alongside family and friends!
Adaptive Rock Climbing Clinic, funded by a VCF Spark Grant
and The Oakland Foundation
We sponsored a two day adaptive climbing clinic, hosted by Metro Rocks, that brought together
professional climbing instructors, physical and occupational therapists, special education
professionals, and volunteers. The clinic trained individuals from 昀椀ve rock climbing gyms and laid the
foundation for successful adaptive programs at each organization.
“Great experience and great opportunity to learn skills, make
connections, and embrace the principles of Universal Mindset.”
CLINIC PARTICIPANT
“No matter who you are or what you are climbing, all that matters
is your enjoyment of the sport and the accomplishments you
and your peers are sharing. I think that the mentality within the
climbing world is what makes it such a great place for folks with a
range of disabilities to 昀椀nd con昀椀dence, happiness, and the love of a
community who truly cares for them and their accomplishments.”

Adaptive Swim Clinic, funded by GMAS and the Greater Burlington YMCA
Swimming offers not only a healthy year round activity but also helps improve water safety skills,
particularly for those individuals with developmental and cognitive disabilities. GMAS partnered
with the Greater Burlington YMCA to offer a two day clinic in adaptive aquatics. The clinic provided
instructors with an introduction to Universal Mindset, an overview of common disabilities, techniques
for developing water safety skills and various adaptations to the basic swimming skills. The clinic
helped expand the number of adaptive coaches at GBYMCA and fostered a new adaptive program at
Upper Valley Aquatic Center in White River Junction.
