INC ANNUAL REPORT | 2021
GLOBAL CARE TAREE.
Pastor Jenny Brewer
Faith Family Church Taree
It's hard to wrap up the last two years in
a few stories. Taree and the Mid North
Coast has been through so much –
affected by fires and floods! Since the
2019 fires, we have been overwhelmed
by the generosity of Global Care, our
community, and countless churches
$30,000 donation from the USA
we have given over $70,000 worth
of assistance to people in need
through Global Care.
After the fires we met Tim when he
walked into Global Care destitute. He
had no money for food and wasn't
coping. The fires had burned his
property and most of his appliances.
He had already lost his property's
access bridge during the first flood,
preventing him from earning a
living. We provided him with food,
home-cooked meals, clothing, vouchers,
a toilet and shower.
Trish walked through the doors of our
church just after the fires, and we were
able to assist her immediate needs
with food, vouchers and clothing.
I lost touch with her for a few months
but then saw her again at a recovery
centre - finding out she had been living
in a tent for three months. Trish's home
had burned down while she attempted
to save a neighbour's home from the
flames. Arriving back at her property,
Trish only survived by jumping
in the dam with her dogs. The fire
singed her hair when it swept over
the dam. Fortunately, her miniature
ponies were saved but severely burnt.
She spent three months looking after
them (housing them at the Taree
Showgrounds for that time as she lives
an hour from Taree). Trish also lost most
of her possessions, her cars and 250
beehives she had recently purchased.
Global Care purchased Trish a camper
trailer to live in, a water tank, toilet,
shower and ongoing essential items.
We were pleased to buy a beehive and
bee suit as well! Trish's dad has now
started attending church when he
can, and Trish said she wants to
volunteer at Global Care. We stay
in touch regularly, and she is currently
living in a Minderoo Pod on her property
until she rebuilds.
I met Ray when he walked into the
church after the fires. We were happy
to give him food and vouchers. He
was living in a tent after his home had
burned down. Global Care purchased
him a caravan to live in, plus a fridge,
toilet, shower, home-cooked meals
and ongoing food boxes. He is now
rebuilding & doing well.
Tim now volunteers at Global Care,
delivering food to schools and
neighbourhood centres four days
a week. He diligently serves at church
every week, and his life has turned
Georgina had been living in a motel
room for three months after the floods.
She had been widowed five years
earlier and the floods destroyed
all she had. We organised a team to
clean her house, and she was finally
able to move back home a month
later. Global Care provided a fridge,
furniture and household items, and
coordinated with GIVIT to provide a
washing machine, bed, bedding, doors,
rugs, and more. Georgina has since
started attending our church and
says she has found a family in the
Global Care team.
TIM AND CHRISTINA'S
Tim and Christina are a couple in their
80s whose home was completely
flooded and they lost most of their
possessions. They were stranded in
their home for three days (their three
miniature ponies lived in their house
during that time and ate most of the
family's books as they ran out of food)!
Global Care gave $700 towards the
horse feed, $1000 towards essential
household items and food, and $1600
for mould removal. We also organised
furniture and beds donated by GIVIT,
plus food and extra items.
There are so many more stories - many
$500 vouchers given immediately
after the floods to help families buy
essential items. After the fires, we had
two truckloads of donations, including
$2000 worth of vouchers sent to us
from the Gungellan Hotel in Adelaide.
Over the last two years, Global Care has
purchased many more fridges, toilets,
showers, new beds, new furniture,
a porta-shower, generator, washing
machine, laptops, vouchers, and more.
Plus, we have given out hundreds of
boxes of food.
We have an incredible
team who give over
and above to help our
community in times of
need. We are so grateful
to Global Care for their
