area that dentists have excelled in, and

We all know that dentistry dates back to the earliest
civilizations and in fact there is evidence that indicate

surgery was the first form of medical specialty. Over
the years, dentistry has evolved to include some of the
most cutting-edge technologies.
Today, AI is invading our everyday lives, albeit in subtle
ways, with digital assistants like Alexa and Siri. Often,
we find that people don’t understand AI and are
afraid of it. We have seen this to be especially true as
AI moves into dental care.

The last five years have marked the modern era
evolution of AI, which is being ushered in with tremendous
hype and investment. In the near future when your
patient heads into the bathroom, plugs his smart
toothbrush into his Smartphone, and puts the brush in
his mouth, it scans his teeth. The images automatically
upload to the Cloud. They are analyzed by artificial
intelligence, which finds a cavity in his aching tooth

However, human history has taught us that right and
meaningful technology is always adopted by
communities across the world. 3D printing, digital
radiographs and practice management software are
just a few of the advancements in technology that
dentists across the world have been quick to adapt
and implement in their daily lives. We can be certain
that AI will change the face of dentistry in ways we
cannot even imagine today.
