ENDODONTICS
anything of that sort.
LOCAL ANESTHESIA
Heat test and the electric pulp tester is that which will
helps to confirm negative results
Use a heated gutta-percha stick to perform heat test;
which is easy and effective method.(Fig:1)
Radiographs taken at different angles will help to read
An effective anesthesia or inferior alveolar nerve
block,(in case of lowers) by following correct
technique, and waiting for sufficient time for the
anesthesia to set in(usually about 15-20 minutes)
before starting any root canal treatment is something
every one over look.
Administer local anesthetic very slowly so that it makes
the injection less painful.
ISOLATION OF TOOTH
Single tooth isolation is only what you require for
endodontic treatment even though multiple tooth
isolation has got several other advantages.

the root and canal morphology.
Number #12A, #13A, #W8, #2 and #2A (Fig:3)winged
clamps is preferred over a wingless in case of single
tooth isolation because it gives more retraction for the
dam and creates more working space.
Dam inversion is extremely essential for proper seal to
prevent seepage.(Fig:4)
IDENTIFICATION OF ‘CRACKED TOOTH’
Tooth Slooth is placed on one cusp at a time to bite
on it which will allow pressure to be concentrated on
the cusp. Each cusp should be separately tested and
the pain should be on release if there is a crack.(Fig:2)
Staining the tooth with methylene blue is what we use
to see the extension of the crack if present.
