Innodev provides opportunity
“Having worked in a stable job in the GIS/IT industry for the last seven years, I was initially
hesitant at moving into the unknown and accepting a position at Innodev, who from the
outside seemed like a relatively new and small company.
However, at the same time, I was excited at the prospect of broadening my horizons
and furthering my career. Since walking through the door I have not been disappointed,
having been provided with numerous opportunities to learn. This has included learning
Agile and becoming a CSM, learning about Test Driven Development, as well as learning
about Object Recognition and Blockchain technologies (all within five weeks of starting).
I have also noticed that the company is not afraid of change and is willing to ‘rethink’ itself.
This provided me with peace of mind, working for a company not afraid of change and
prepared to be at the forefront of the IT industry.”
Overcoming obstacles and
building trust
“I had a new client who had previously experienced poor delivery on projects and had
a very cynical view of the entire sector. After a competitive process, I won the work and
delivered on time and just under budget. Thus, he awarded me another couple of small
projects, which all went well.
He then asked me to come and see him and I expected some complaints from his previous
demeanour. Instead, he said he was delighted with his dealings to date and if I maintained
the same level of service he would no longer get competitive quotes. This implied a strong
level of trust and was implicitly saying that he was prepared to pay a little more for great
service, so satisfying for both of us.”
Doing things differently
“When I started with Innodev I was advised that the Practice Leads were not expected to
bill a full five day week. This came as a shock, as in all of my previous roles the Practice
Leads were still expected to bill a full 40 hours, then attempt to develop the practice in
their own time. When speaking with potential clients, I have explained this as something
unique to Innodev and the clients who have been around consulting for some time seem
to appreciate how this does make Innodev different to the other players in the market.”
