We are eternally grateful to the Lord, our family
and our dear friends that all helped make Engelheim
Vineyards and our award-winning wines a reality.

“I came back from Iraq and Kuwait and was stationed at Fort McPherson and had grown some grapes
while in the military. As I neared retirement, I knew
this was what I wanted to do and we began looking for
the best place and this was Ellijay.” Back then, there
were a handful of wineries across north Georgia but as
of this year, there are 11 in Gilmer County alone.
Engelheim is home to over 20+ awards for their
outstanding lineup of wines including many double
gold and silver medals from the largest competition
of American wines, the San Francisco Chronicle Wine
Competition. They won “2018 Georgia Winery of the
Year” and “Best Georgia Grown Wine” in 2020.
Engel strongly believes the success is a divine gift,
thanking God for all their blessings and seeing success
to bring the whole family in as part of the operations.
“We are eternally grateful to the Lord, our family and
our dear friends that all helped make Engelheim Vineyards and our award-winning wines a reality.”
Engelheim’s Tasting Room is open seven days a
week, from 12:30 to 6 pm. They also have a tasting room
on the Square in Dahlonega, a hotbed for north Georgia tourism. Additionally, they have live music every
weekend and are part of a Singer Songwriters Festival
in Gilmer County on Memorial Day Weekend where
musicians will come down from Nashville. Engelheim
is one of six wineries featured as part of the festival, a
showcase for Gilmer County.
