From a regulatory refinement
approach, many states have begun
studying and analyzing policy, regu-
latory, and ethical issues associated
with AI while creating legislation that
balances the need to protect citizens
by maintaining data privacy with the
need to ensure economic innovation
is not stifled. During the 2023 legislative session, at least 25 states introduced artificial intelligence bills with
15 states adopting resolutions or enacting legislation. To encourage those
who may not be open to AI, even
the current 118th Congress, despite
being the third oldest Congress since
1789, has already begun addressing
transparency concerns while also encouraging the success of AI to ensure
the United States remains competitive in the latest technologies.
In Georgia, Chairman of the
Senate Committee on Public Safety
John Albers, R-Roswell, and Chairman of the Senate Committee on
Science and Technology Chuck
Payne, R-Dalton, are collaborating
on how to best address the concerns related to AI’s advancement

These statistics make way for
skeptics to opine on how AI will
cause inevitable disruptions in the
labor market. Those who oppose
AI being implemented into workforce and fear its overreach will find
comfort in the fact that “uncontrollable artificial general intelligence is
science fiction and not reality… humans will always decide how much
decision-making power to cede to
AI models.” Chief Scientist Willam
Daley at Nvidia, an AI chipmaker
company, noted this during a U.S.
Senate hearing in early 2023.
Many preconceived notions are
more prevalent among generations
who did not grow up in a rapidly
evolving technologically advanced
world. The generational factor could
create a rift in AI’s advancement
without proper education and understanding of the benefits technology provides. When looking at AI
through an objective lens, one will
find that this technology has the
capability to do incredible things
to the overall benefit of humanity.
Though biases exist on how to regulate AI, there is common ground
to be found with regulation in the
private sector and policymaking
on a federal level due to the need
to ensure there is room for human
control and oversight. Balance with
progression of AI is imperative to
safeguard cybersecurity, combat
malicious behavior and AI manipulation, and ensure risk management.
