Planning Theme is “Transforming Today for Tomorrow.”
We are embracing the future now and have expectations of positive outcomes within the next three years.
During the next year the university will be focused
on student success and enrollment growth; managing
expenses, raising funds, earning grants and making
Clayton State the best place to work and go to college.
CM Can you talk about some of the strides that have
been made in elevating Clayton State’s profile and promoting its mission?
GL After experiencing some of the similar challenges
of many colleges and universities after the pandemic,
Clayton State has a new leadership team, it stabilized
enrollment for Fall of 2023, improved student retention
rates, has strengthened partnerships with business/industry and educational organizations and continues to
be a leader in social mobility for its students.
Furthermore, our students are performing at a high
level. One example is evidenced by nearly 96 percent
of nursing students passing their boards on the first
attempt in 2023.
CM Students and parents have voiced concerns over
the high cost of tuition at colleges and universities
across the state. Is Clayton State doing anything to
address these costs?
GL A large portion of our student population is eligible
for the Federal Pell Grant which helps them with the
funding issues.
CM What does the future hold for Clayton State?
GL Clayton State University is positioned to be the catalyst for economic development and social mobility in
the Southern Crescent of Atlanta. We are embracing the
demands of the future and are creating partnerships to
help meet those demands. We are working to be at the
center of growth and development in this region.
