Hayling Hunniz:Women’s wellbeing
By Nicola Bayliss of
Hayling Hunniz WI
THE Hayling Hunniz WI had a
wonderful March meeting. Local
business owner Claire Odd came
to talk to us about how to restore
balance in our lives.
We discussed the menopause,
which affects all women at some
point in their lives, also how to get
the best night’s sleep. The advice
included putting your phone down
before you go to bed and keeping
the bedroom as a bedroom, avoid
TV and tablets.
Claire is a real font of knowledge
about women’s health. She gave us
some exercises to do to help us feel
fabulous at the end of the day.
Claire’s business is as a women’s
health specialist, she is a workplace
health and wellbeing consultant.
Among her many skills she can offer
post surgery rehabilitation, manual
lymphatic drainage and cranal sacral
therapy. You can find Claire on
Facebook.
At our meeting we also had a raffle
in which every item was orange – it
was a great success.
Our April meeting marks our
second birthday here on the Island.
We have a wonderful group of
ladies who come together to enjoy a
monthly meeting of fun, interesting
and crafty activities.
The birthday meeting will be
Hayling Hunniz does Bake Off – a
baking competition which we will
all taste and vote our winners.
We meet on the first Tuesday of
the month at 7pm at the community
centre. We are a safe and warm
space.

Hayling Beach Babes: Good, better, best?
By Fiona Oates, Vice Secretary of
Hayling Beach Babes
ON the eve of our Hayling Beach Babes
WI monthly meeting, we unfortunately
received a call from the speaker we had
booked, advising us that due to sickness
she was unable to visit us the next day to
demonstrate her skills as a chocolatier.
This did cause a slight panic but within
a couple of hours the committee members
had stepped up and an alternative meeting
was organized, to everyone’s relief.
Katharine Miller, one of our events and
speaker co-ordinators, gave a talk herself
entitled Taking the strain off our feet.
One lucky member was treated to a
pedicure and foot massage. We now know
how we should treat our feet with respect
and love, lots of massage and cream to
moisturize.
After the talk we had a hot cross bun
tasting. Barbara, our secretary, did a sterling job, and went out at 8am on the day to
purchase 25 packs of buns, plus gluten free
options, from three different supermarkets.
Our members’ challenge was to each
decide which was good, which was better
and which was totally delicious.
As often happens in taste tests the cheapest hot cross buns came out on top with
the most votes. We all then made a good
effort to eat up all the leftover buns. A lot
of fun was had and our chocolatier has
now been rebooked for later in the year.
Our current year’s speakers have now all
been booked.
We have a very varied programme of
fun, craft, music, exercises and educational
speakers. We also have four outings being
planned for later in the year.
If you would like to come along we meet
on the third Wednesday of the month at
Hayling Community Centre from 1pm to
3pm.
The first two meetings are free and after
that you are welcome to join.
